Gavin: the end
Sonny passed away this morning at 10.15. He was comfortable, peaceful and both of us were there to hold his hands. Sonny chose when it was time to go, not the Doctors, Consultants, Nurses or us.

So very very sorry. What a fighter he was, and how strong you all have been. I have been constantly impressed at how you made his time not about his illness, but about how much enjoyment he could still get from life. You made sure his time was as much about fun and football and positivity as possible, and you should always be proud of that. Wishing you strength now. xx
ReplyDeleteA truly inspiring chap with the best family team by his side. Our love to you all - The Dixons x
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing, as was Sonny. Your courage, dignity and bravery are an inspiration to everyone. I never met Sonny but followed this blog daily, almost from the beginning. To hear the news yesterday was awful, I always thought he would pull thro, by sheer will alone! No words can comfort at a time like this, but I hope you can find the strength to go on, little by little, a step at a time, knowing that you did the absolute best you could for Sonny and no parents could have done more. R
ReplyDeleteI had to read this blog twice to absorb what you'd written, and the sadness I feel (despite never having met Sonny) has been overwhelming all day. I've read most of your blog over these past couple of years and your journey with Sonny through this nightmare has brought an unexpected smile to my face on many occasions. No words I can offer now will make the slightest bit of difference - but please know, that this isn't a battle you've all waged on your own. You're online audience has been with you, pulling for you, all the way. Say goodbye to Sonny for us and I hope nothing like this touches your lives again. You deserve a free run from here on in......
